Lamoni Freedom Fund Grant Recipients On December 6, 2023,  grant recipients of the Lamoni Freedom Fund, a SCICF endowment, were recognized and awarded their funds.   The Lamoni Freedom Fund was created by a generous donation years ago from a family that loved the Lamoni community.  Lamoni benefits from the interest made from that donation every year.  Approximately $30,000 goes back to the Lamoni community for projects, repairs and services needed.   Pictured in the back row left to right are . . .

Resting Paws Dog Park is being added at the Amish Country Store / Maid-Rite site. Work has nearly completed on the fence and trees have been planted. Community Center Gets New Flooring

New Addition to the West Trailhead

If you have been out to the Lamoni Recreational Trail's West trailhead (Liberty Hall) in lately you may have noticed a new addition: a Dero bike repair station! The renovation of the Lamoni Recreational Trail nears completion as earth movers work to level off and fill in sections of the east trail in preparation to pour concrete. Walkers, joggers, and bikers found the trail blocked just short of Birch Street at the small pond on their way to the Amish Country Store / Iowa Welcome Center Trailhead this spring. 11th Annual Bethany's Race

The 11th annual Bethany's Race was held on May 6th. 49 participants turned out in spite of the rain and hail that came about an hour before the race. Bethany Gruich was a beloved member of the community who was diagnosed with glioblastoma (a rare brain cancer) in October of 2012, just shy of her 16th birthday. The community surrounded the Gruich family with love, to raise funds for her support and the race was born. Gruich succumbed to this awful disease shortly after her 18th birthday. Tanya McLain is the Manager of the recently opened Family Dollar / Dollar Tree located at 217 East Main in downtown Lamoni. McLain is from Kellerton, where she's lived most of her life.
